Support the Doug Chickering Internship Program

This year, the Friends of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is proud to dedicate our fundraising efforts to a cause that honors the memory of a beloved member of our community, Doug Chickering.

Doug, an avid birder, author, and respected member of the Parker River Wildlife Refuge, left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His passion for birdwatching and his generous spirit in sharing his knowledge with others have been an inspiration.

In remembrance of Doug, we invite you to contribute to the Doug Chickering Internship Program. Your donations will support the nurturing of new talent in wildlife conservation and birdwatching, continuing Doug's legacy of fostering a community of enthusiasts.

Remembering Doug

Doug Chickering

Doug's life was one of dedication and joy, manifested in his contributions to the Friends of the Parker River Wildlife Refuge and his written work, including "Reflections on a Golden Winged Warbler." We invite all who knew and cherished Doug to reflect on his profound impact on our lives and the birdwatching community.

A celebration of Doug's life was held, honoring his memory and the passion that he shared with us all. While we mourn the loss of a true friend, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind – one of appreciation for nature and the bonds of community it can create.

For more on Doug Chickering's life and legacy, please read this touching remembrance in the Newburyport Daily News.
