Emily T. Nelson – “Photos of the Pantanal”
Emily T. Nelson is a life-long photographer and nature lover who has traveled to many continents. An Ipswich resident, birder and regular visitor to the Parker River Wildlife Refuge, she recently traveled to South America to visit the Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland and flooded grassland. Here she had an opportunity to see and photograph the regions’ flora and fauna, an incredibly rich and diverse array of living things.
Located mostly in Brazil, the Pantanal also extends into Bolivia and Paraguay, covering an estimated 75,000 square miles. Emily and her husband spent two weeks, traveling by boat, van and on foot through pristine landscapes. She took over 7,000 photos of the wildlife she encountered from birds and mammals to insects and reptiles and has chosen twenty-one images to exhibit at Parker River.
