Meet the Newburyport Ten: ‘A River Runs Through It’ Art Exhibition
Come join us at the Parker River Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center for a heartwarming exhibition titled “A River Runs Through It,” available from December 4, 2023, to January 31, 2024. We’re delighted to showcase the creative works of the talented Newburyport Ten, a group of plein air painters who find joy and inspiration in the natural world.
This charming exhibition celebrates the scenic beauty of the Parker, Ipswich, and Merrimack Rivers and their enchanting shores. The artists, including Susan Spellman, Susan Jaworski Stranc, Marjet Lesk, Christine Riccardi, Michele Champion, Margery Jennings, and Mary Carolyn Webber, each bring a unique splash of creativity through their diverse artistic backgrounds.
From captivating illustrations to mesmerizing prints, each piece in the exhibit tells a story of our beautiful local rivers and landscapes. So, come along and be inspired by the art that blossoms from the heart of nature!
A Celebration of Nature’s Canvas
Each artist in the Newburyport Ten brings a unique perspective to the canvas, but they all share a common thread โ a deep love for nature and its ever-changing landscapes. Their artwork is not just a representation of the rivers and shores; it’s a celebration of the moments and memories that these natural spaces hold. As you wander through the exhibit, you’ll feel as though you’re walking alongside the rivers, feeling the breeze and hearing the gentle flow of water.
Behind the Scenes โ The Artists’ Journey
The journey of the Newburyport Ten is as fascinating as their art. These artists have braved the elements, setting up their easels in the open air, to truly capture the essence of the environment they’re painting. This dedication to plein air painting brings an authenticity and vibrancy to their work that can’t be replicated in a studio. By visiting the exhibit, you’re not just viewing art; you’re stepping into the experiences and passion that drive these artists.
Connect and Reflect
This exhibition is more than just an art display; it’s an invitation to connect with our local history and natural heritage. As you absorb the beauty of the artworks, we encourage you to reflect on your own connection to these rivers and lands. Perhaps these paintings will rekindle fond memories, inspire new adventures, or deepen your appreciation for the natural world around us.
We warmly welcome you to come and experience ‘A River Runs Through It.’ Let the art take you on a journey through the picturesque landscapes of New England and leave you inspired by the sheer beauty of the world we live in. See you there!
