Join the Friends for a Cranberry Bog Walk on Plum Island

Come explore Plum Island’s largest cranberry bog with the Friends of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the fall season and learn about the island’s unique natural and social history.

Where to go:
We’ll meet at Parking Lot #1 on the refuge and then carpool to the lot closest to the bog. Along the way, you’ll be guided by experts Janet Hickey, Bill Gette, and Ellie Bailey, who will share their extensive knowledge of the cranberry bog and the surrounding dunes and beach.

What to Expect:

  • A short hike through the dunes and along the beach to the island’s largest cranberry bog.
  • Insightful talks about the natural and historical significance of the bog.
  • The chance to pick a few cranberries to take home with you!

How to Register:
Simply email Friends@parkerriver.org with your name and contact information to secure your spot.

This event is suitable for all ages, and everyone is welcome. Don’t forget to bring a bag for your cranberry harvest.
