Update: Walk for the Wild 2024

October 12, 2024 – Today’s weather report predicts a chance of showers after the 10 AM start time on Sunday, Oct 13, with increased potential for rain throughout the day. As a result, we’re adjusting some of the event schedule. Read on for latest schedule.

The following events will still start at 10 AM on Sunday, Oct 13:

  • Guided Stage Island Tour: Meet the event guides at the start of the Stage Island Trail at Lot #6 on the Refuge
  • Hellcat Dike Hike and Scavenger Hunt: Meet at the Observation Tower at Hellcat Trail
  • Hellcat Trail Hike: Meet at the Observation Tower at Hellcat Trail

For these events, please dress for potential rain and temperatures around 50°F.

Cancellations:

For safety reasons, the Guided Refuge Bike Ride and Self-Guided Bike Ride to Plum Island Lighthouse scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled due to the potential for wet and slippery paved/gravel roads.

Our primary goal for WFTW2024 is to encourage visitors to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, and experience the beauty of nature at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge!

Additionally, there will be no entry fee on Sunday, October 13, so we hope to see you on the Refuge tomorrow!
