October Artist of the Month: Susan Coolidge
We are excited to announce Susan Coolidge as the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge’s Artist of the Month for October. Susan’s breathtaking landscapes, inspired by the marshes and woods surrounding her cabin, will be on display from October 1st to October 31st at the refuge’s visitor center.
A lifelong lover of nature, Susan’s art goes beyond mere representation—her works express a deep connection to the natural world. Every brushstroke reflects not only what she sees but also what she feels. Her evocative painting style, particularly her work with oils, beautifully captures the textures and moods of the landscapes that inspire her.
Susan’s creative journey began in photography, working at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, before transitioning to oil painting fifteen years ago. The shift to painting has allowed her to explore the vibrant colors and rich textures of oils, which she describes as a “wondrous” experience.
You can view Susan Coolidge’s artwork throughout October at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center at 6 Plum Island Turnpike. The center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to stop by and experience the emotion and beauty of her nature-inspired works!
